Delroy Lindo has joined the human-vampire hybrid vampire hunter in Marvel Studios’ “Blade” which is set to start filming in July of 2022. Lindo’s character in the movie has not been revealed but fans have already started speculating.
This is the first actor to join the vampire slayer since Mahershala Ali announced he would be playing the role of Blade at the Marvel panel at San Diego’s Comic Con in 2019.
Delroy Lindo, currently shooting up bad guys in “The Harder They Fall'', is in final negotiations to join Mahershala Ali in Marvel Studios’ “Blade,” said The Hollywood Reporter.
Lindo has just come from the critically acclaimed Spike Lee Netflix film, “Da 5 Bloods.” Lee has worked with Lindo on movies like “Malcolm X” in the past and now Delroy Lindo is ready to make his directorial debut with “Jabari’s People.”
Fans started to question which character this veteran actor will play in the upcoming film. Jamal Afari is the most popular guess; he is the man who raised and mentored Blade. As a vampire hunter himself Afari taught Blade everything he knows.
With the voice teaser from Mahershala Ali in Marvel’s “Eternals” end credit scene fans wonder if Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington) will also be added to the cast list soon. Since Mr. Whitman is who Blade (Mahershala Ali) was talking to in the scene.
I have no idea,” Harrington told Variety. “There’s nothing written. Nothing I’ve been told. Honestly, genuinely. It’s funny, isn’t it? You say these things, and people are like, ‘You do! You know!’ And I have no idea. I’m assuming that that would be the case. But who knows?”
The director of “Blade” is Bassam Tariq, most known for his work on “Mogul Mowgli.” Sitting in the writer's chair is Stacy Osei-Kuffour, known for her contribution to “Watchmen” and “PEN15.”
In true Marvel Studios fashion, no comments or hints have been given to the script or other actors that are casted. Marvel fans will just have to wait and see how Delroy Lindo suits up for the role.
