In 2015 the Reddit user “GodEmperorOfHell” posted the original theory that stated the vampires in the Stephanie Meyer's “Twilight” series actually were faeries and now on TikTok the question still remains.
The theory states that because faeries sparkle in sunlight, live in the woods and in Celtic lore they even drink blood the Cullens and other vampires of the “Twilight” universe must be faeries. Some stories even portray faeries as obsessed with humans much like Edward Cullen.
Stepheine Meyer’s books also entail that vampires get specific abilities once they are changed like Bella Swan can project a shield of protection over anyone she wants or Alice Cullen who can see the future. These traits of having magical powers are also connected to faeries.

With all of the evidence pointing towards the “Twilight” vampires being faeries it seems they must be however, is Stepheine Meyer really clever enough to think of this? Meyer’s book series, while incredibly popular and entertaining, has its shortcomings.
The “Twilight” series is a love story with a dark twist, the vampire element seems to have been added for a “Romeo and Juliet” kind of conflict in Edward and Bella’s fight to be together. The bloodlust adds to the drama and nothing more because it does not need anything more.
While being an incredible storyteller Meyer’s ability to weave in the hidden element of faeries seems unlikely. The overall details add up more out of coincidence than anything else. Stepheine Meyer should not get the credit for this intriguing idea.
The bloodshed and fantasy of the “Twilight” series was merely a conflict steppingstone in the real story of obsessive love between Bella and Edward. Even though faeries would have been an interesting twist, Stepheine Meyer was not telling that story.
